Vela Luka

Vela Luka is a large bay between Pirovec and Pakoštani on the mainland. The bay is very well protected from all winds except the southwest. Burja and mistral can blow strongly, but they do not cause waves. We can anchor in the bay at depths between 1 and 5 m. There is a sink at the bottom and it holds the anchor well. In the eastern part of the bay there is a pontoon pier with 15 moorings. The depth of the sea at the head of the pier is only 1.5 m. Mooring is only possible with smaller vessels with a draft of up to 1m. Moorings on the pontoon pier are intended for guests of the inn.

CAUTION WHEN NAVIGATING

In the northern part of the bay, the sea depths are below 2m. In the middle of the bay there is a shallow area where the depth of the sea is only 2.3 m. If we have a vessel with a larger draft, we have to sail closer to the eastern coast, where the depths are between 2 and 5 m.
